Egoistic Cropping

L'EAU Design as Architects

Like Cropping CROPPING, one of the photographer's editing skills, the human brain optionally magnifies images that it wants to remember, and intentionally forgets and removes clutter around it. Can't you edit the impressive and overwhelming moments of a travel destination that you can't even capture in panoramic pictures and keep them for a long time by editing them into your own vivid memories.

"Cropping of Places" continues to generate random, non-deterministic images in our living space that we cannot have other than the atmosphere of the time and place according to people's spontaneous movements. Just as the same landscape is photographed by different artists, the same space will be cropped in its own way according to the way each person perceives it differently, and then various memories will be kept in his or her heart for a long time as a place that is implied and imaged as his or her own story.

The first place I visited was Haye Village, west of Jungmun Gate of Seogwipo, where the coastal cliff, which was carved high above the wide open sea horizon, was filled with picturesque landscapes. Small houses huddled along the curved line of the beautiful stone wall below the gaze, feeling the smell and wiggle of people living in small island villages. Unlike any other tourist hotel on Jeju Island, which is subtly overlapped between the ideal and the realistic world, the villa-type residence hotel quietly prepares to be a place to remember and delay the precious moments of temporary residents leaving home without disturbing the world.
