Self-drawing Life Pattern and Scenery

L'EAU Design as Architects

Querencia, which has an etymology of affection and attachment and means the homing instinct back-home instrument, is a jargon used in bullfighting in Spain. The cow, who enters the wide-open bullfight for the first time, looks around the tense battlefield and the surroundings and points out where he can rest in advance. This is the survival habit of animals that prepare their own resting place while catching their breath and recharging their energy for the final battle. Just like the homing instinct of animals looking for time and place of recovery, humans also need a cultural place to fill their instinctive regression with their own tastes and cultural avitus in their daily lives.

Large bookstores, which once filled shelves with financial technology-related books and ranked best sellers of self-development books that inform life's success, served as a complex cultural space in the city center. However, at some point, as an alley culture emerged around us, local small bookstores that strongly revealed the color of taste through one-person publishing appeared one after another. Along with these signs of change in our daily culture, Nonhyeon Querencia is proposed as an architecture that leads the alley culture of residential areas. They are given the role of preventing gentlification by culturally protecting their residence. As a result, the proposed new type of architecture leads an open cultural space in the region while the lower level is profitable, and a workshop is placed at the upper level where the owner lives, combining housing, workplaces, and profitability.

The apartment culture, which had been simply fragmented into rooms, living rooms, and kitchens, by framing the uniform lifestyle, has now faced limitations in the ever-changing modern situation.

Now, the architect is given the role of planning and consulting for each person's life in order to create architecture as a background Scenery that will portray the patterns of his or her own life. The architectural structure that can respond to the evolving demands of the times, drawing a unique pattern in which one's intimate tastes are imbued, stems from the desire to harbor the possibility of various events unfolding like the unrealistic fictional world of each person's dreams and the potential for new stories to be continuously created.

When the background deeply oozing from the inside is realized as a self-reliant stage in space, architecture will become a place where flexible programs work on their own.
