“Omnia Mecum Porto”by Portuguese team: Daniel Maia, Mariana Barreira, Ricardo Amaral and Ricardo Domingues
From the author: “I carry with me all things.” We took this as an appropriate motto for our project, since it expresses a strong resolve to incorporate, in its design, the history and atmosphere of the surrounding city heritage. Our proposal starts with a very objective move: connecting the two edges of the site, redrawing the city’s and river’s limit. […] Our solution is drawn creating a vivid contrast between built space and river. Moreover, where these contrasts appear, an intricate and intimate relationship is established between the city and the water, thus creating a strong and contemporary identity for the new promenade, anchored in the history and tradition of the city’s relationship with the Douro River”
