AD Residence

Anastasia Arquitetos as Architects

AD Residence is located on a sloping land in a mountainous region in a condominium in Nova Lima. It is a residence with basically a main floor, where the intimate, social and service areas are concentrated, and a basement where the engine room and gym are located.

In its distribution, the intimate area extends along the left side façade, with the rooms facing north, since constant sunlight is necessary in them due to the climate of the region. An internal garden separates the intimate area from the social area, which faces the land area backgrounds, where we have the best view and east orientation.

Due to its length, the room is illuminated by the internal garden and by openings above, which guarantee natural lighting and ventilation throughout the day.The entrance, facing west, has no openings, just the main door. Thus, we achieve privacy from the street and good protection from the western sun.The services part extends along the right side façade, with the garage communicating at the same level with the service area, which in turn communicates with the kitchen. Thus, the entire house is accessible, with generous circulations and without obstacles.

The project sought to interfere as little as possible with the natural terrain, thus avoiding containment and retaining walls.

Photovoltaic and solar panels were installed on its roof, in addition to having a system for reusing rainwater, which have large water tanks for storing them, since the rainfall regime in the region indicates long periods without rain.

In addition, attention to the arrangement of openings in relation to the wind and sun makes it possible to eliminate the need for artificial air conditioning systems.
