toledo is a city whose historic center is part of the humanity heritage. their trades are part of our culture. the architecture reflects the city's history, the relationship between the three cultures: arabic, jewish and christian. it was an example of coexistence, tolerance, respect and mixing, sharing the best of each culture.
this is essentially a pedestrian city, with narrow, windings streets that lead to larger spaces. particularly important are the meeting places, squares and courtyards. there is a great tradition of toledo courtyards, composed of various types of vegetation and water lines. such are the spaces that set our project. the project seeks to restore the plaza to pedestrian. traffic is diverted to reintegrate the church in the square and get a bigger space. it's the void that precedes the viewpoint-tower that divides the square into two regions, a public area in which public events could be done like concerts, cultural events and celebrations such as corpus christi (putting points in the pavement to raise tarps) and other more private for resting and a playing area for children. it is important to preserve historical memory. the interventioin remains the character of the alley and the way aling the wall that serves as access to the square.
in the same way it is seeked to answer the historical materiality using the brick as building materials for the viewpolnt-tower and also for the plaza/ and creating new facades in relation to the surrounding buildings.the viewpoint-tower appears as the third vertical element of the area, next to the church and the cathedral.
