The solution to the growing housing shortage

1op1 Architectuur as Architects

Startblock, the solution to the growing housing shortage in the Netherlands. Our vision is simple yet effective: high-quality prefab homes that are quickly and efficiently placed on-site. This concept is the result of a collaboration between three parties: Stijlvolhout B.V., OVT Development B.V., and 1op1 Architecture B.V.

In 2018, we began developing Startblock 'Roots,' a compact 52m2 home, perfect for two-person households. Later, we introduced Startblock 'Tree' and 'Leaf,' which replace traditional single-family homes. Startblock continues to focus on innovation, improvement, and expansion of our prefab range, so we can deliver a wide variety of housing types to the market as a serious housing supplier.

The homes are designed with flexibility as a core principle. They are suitable for various zoning plans, have a quick construction time, and are built according to a sustainable philosophy. Moreover, they offer opportunities for scale in the production process. Each of our homes comes as a complete package from the factory, ready to be placed and inhabited.

The experienced team takes care of all technical designs, permit applications, and location planning with care and attention to detail. What sets us apart is our modular approach. We can place twice as many homes on the same area without compromising on comfort. The facades of our homes are customizable, ensuring each home meets local aesthetic requirements.

Startblock stands for affordable, sustainable, and efficiently built homes. Within one week, comfortable, fully furnished homes roll out of our factory, ready to be inhabited. We believe everyone deserves a safe and comfortable home.
