Liqui Group as Designers

Liqui was asked by a U.S. client to create a bubble tea shop design and brand identity for a café based in Palm Springs California. We developed the interior design in conjunction with our creative agency Crate47 who undertook the branding. The café had previously been part of a franchise, but the owner wanted to start their own business with a fresh bubble tea brand and new tea room interior.

To accommodate queuing customers for takeaway orders Liqui was asked to create a spacious front-of-house area as the main feature of the bubble tea shop design. Seating was also to be kept to a minimum to make it easier for people to socialise in groups while standing. With a high school nearby, the demographic for potential customers was going to be fairly young. This led us to use a reasonably colourful palette for the tea room interior. But, by being selective in our choice of hues as well as materials, the tea shop remains fairly restrained in its overall look, making it appealing to a wider clientele.

The extensive walls are decorated with blocks of colour based around semi-circles. The curved shapes have been echoed in other features throughout the bubble tea shop design; such as the rounded front counter, the colour-flecked terrazzo flooring, and the built-in bench seating. In the front window area, Liqui’s Hove Club sofa and armchairs provide a comfortable, relaxed seating area.
