Task:
The main task was to create an institution with a homely atmosphere in the trendy, densely built-up district of Patrickov - “but not to look to visit a friend”? Take a bottle of wine from the shelf, sit down to talk about something pleasant and leave the window of routine and care.
Challenges:
The complexity of the layout was created by a small space in which it was necessary to accommodate a room with a replanting room, a bar and a kitchen, as well as the layout of the room.
Idea:
We took wine as the basis of the design concept and literally elevated it to the rank of deity, which has become an integral attribute of modern Moscow. Thus, Cork and Corkscrew, became a Friday-ironic temple of wine lovers. We filled the place with the appropriate attributes. Some tables are in a kind of chapels - large metal mesh-bottles.
The very spirit of wine materialized in a bright art object that attracts attention and has already become the hallmark of the institution. An iridescent pillar of light personifies the spirit of wine and joy.
Solution:
We solved the complexity of the layout by changing the geometry, making it oblique: the bar was turned towards the entrance, so that the bartender would meet any incoming one. The given diagonal changed the angle of entry to the second hall, making navigation understandable. We hung a mirror on a dark column in front of the entrance to the second hall, creating additional light and expanding the entrance to the second zone. The geometry was emphasized by the ceiling, which also directs to the second room.
Wine attributes include all the design elements: we made the walls with the racks on which we laid the bottles. Above the bar is a cloud of wine glasses shimmering with thousands of lights from ceiling spots. Thanks to well-chosen lighting and glass texture, we filled a small space of the bar with bright sparkling light.
Our wine temple also has its own altar, where instead of candles there are corks that can be added to the common basket and, coming here again and again, to observe how it is filled.
Another "chip" of the bar appeared spontaneously. When opening the floors, a pit of about half a meter deep was discovered. We got the idea to make it a stylized wine cellar. Several rows of wine bottles, lights, and it is not clear how deep the cellar and the wine stocks of Cork and Corkscrew are rich.
