The project is the union of two next-door flats. The idea of the project is to use the big terrace like a big patio surrounded by the living, dinning and kitchen area. The entrance is characterized by the use of grey color for the floor, walls and furniture and this create a kind of filter between outside and inside. The kitchen is double height and the visible bearing structures become plastic elements. The floor in the new area of the living is made of micro concrete. This is a neutral material that matches very well with the existing one that is made of marble. In the sleeping area that is in the attic there are the sleeping rooms and a little office. The floor is made with the pre-existing wood of the two apartments. The wood essences were different so in the junction point was created a connection spacing out the two essences. The idea was to keep the differences between the two original apartments. The beams were processed with an oil to obtain a honey effect and to stand out the perspective the under course was whitened. To connect the living area with the sleeping one that is in the attic a rough steel stair was made. The steel show up the beauty of the micro concrete of the living floor and of the woods on the sleeping floor. The flat is very bright tanks to the new windows and openings in the internal and exterior walls and the windows in the roof. The openings create lights and shadows that move in the interior space during the day.
