Capitol Hill Home

Dwell Development LLC as Contractors

Making a Statement on Sustainable Design Dwell Development Introduces Captiol Hill to High Performance Dwell Development, Seattle-based award-winning green home builder, is excited to announce the completion of a brand new high performance home. This new modern home brings high-performance, high design and sustainable materials to Seattle’s historic Capitol Hill neighborhood. The 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home is the first of its kind on Capitol Hill and features a 9Kw solar package, green roof, and 1,100 square foot reclaimed wood deck.

The home will achieve 5-Star Built Green certification through Washington State’s Built Green home building program. A 5-Star Built Green rating is the highest rating a home can achieve, meaning the builder has gone above and beyond to design an exceptionally green home, incorporating features such as solar power, energy efficient and water-saving appliances, an airtight building envelope, super insulation, triple-pane windows, reclaimed and recycled materials, and limited disruption to native landscaping.

Dwell Development incorporates all the 5-Star Built Green requirements and, working with local architects, engineers, designers, and manufacturers, builds a home that celebrates green features with a modern aesthetic. The result is a luxury home that is as sustainable as it is beautiful, with benefits to indoor air quality, temperature consistency, walkability, and monthly savings on energy bills.

The home’s visually striking architetural design is supported by a mix of reclaimed wood siding, decks and exterior spaces intended to create the ultimate indoor/outdoor experience. Inside, the central kitchen, living and dining room connects the front deck to the backyard and helps establish a flow throughout the main floor. The kitchen is clad in reclaimed wood and steel accents, which visually connects the interior to the exterior and adds warmth to the space. On the second floor, the master bedroom and spa-like master bathroom take center stage, while the surrounding bedrooms offer plenty of space for family and guests. The third floor is home to a large entertainment space that opens out to a wrap around rooftop deck with territorial views of the city and Mt. Rainier.

The home’s urban location in Seattle’s Capitol Hill also aligns with Dwell Development’s strategy to build high performance homes in densely populated urban neighborhoods with high walk scores in hopes that homeowners will depend less on their cars. Captiol Hill also offers the city’s best restaurants, retail stores, and entertainment destinations with the added bonus of being located across the steet from a school and park.

Dwell Development took their green mission one step further this year with the goal of building exclusively net zero ready homes. This home fits the bill perfectly as it is equipped with both solar and a green roof to harness natural energy from the sun and as a result, reduce carbon emissions. As the year winds down, Dwell Development will continue to announce new homes in urban neighborhoods that push the boundaries of sustainable design.
