Renovating an old apartment is not always easy, but it is an option that is attracting more and more interested parties. Attracted by more generously sized floor plans and privileged locations, renovation becomes an interesting option for many families.
The apartment chosen by this young couple is located in one of the highest points in the Juvevê neighborhood in Curitiba/PR and has a total area of approximately 130m2 with three bedrooms, one of which is a suite.
As traditional in this type of renovation, the main challenge was to rethink its layout. The original plan of the apartment, with the classic division between living room and kitchen, did not exploit the property's full potential. By demolishing the wall that divided the rooms, we not only integrated the social area of the apartment, but we maximized natural light and air circulation throughout the space.
Additionally, we transformed one of the old bedrooms into a fully functional office for residents' home office routine. One of the highlights of this space is the custom-designed bookcase that has a built-in bench for reading time and some guitar playing.
The project was based on a palette of light and soft materials that create a calmer personality for this new home. The contrast only occurs in the toilet and ensuite bathroom, where the clients opted for stronger colored coverings.
