URBAN POWER as Architects

With one of the most important traffic hubs in Greater Copenhagen and upcoming developments nearby, “The Yellow City” in Høje Taastrup has a great potential for developing into an attractive and lively district.

The plan focuses on this potential, providing opportunities for urban life, safety and a close relation to nature while enhancing the qualities of the area´s strong identity, defined, among other elements, by its symmetry and the use of yellow bricks.

Aimed at improving the urban life character of the area, the design enhances the qualities of the site and binds the public spaces together with a coherent language, improving the everyday experiences of the users.

Green elements, paving and lighting stretch along the entire site and define the space, creating various possibilities for urban life to flourish. The chaotic traffic flow is reorganized in order to maximize safety and efficiency, while making space for public life in the area.

Central to the development of the area, the two squares located north and south of Høje Taastrup station, are designed to have unique identities and cater to different needs. Høje Taastrup Boulevard, which connects the spaces, is upgraded with similar principles, contributing to creating a coherent and active urban area.
