Situated below a dead-end street in the Tustin foothills, this property offers views of Santiago Peak and the Saddleback formation, but the owners weren’t satisfied with the layout and orientation of the existing 1960's ranch house. Ultimately, it was determined that the best way to take full advantage of the site and views was to relocate the existing garage and tear down 50% of the existing house. In its place, a contemporary, flat roofed great room addition was designed with 14’ ceilings and sliding glass doors that open up to the patio, pool, and mountain views beyond. An earth-toned palette of natural materials was selected to soften the sharp lines of the addition and help the new house blend into the heavily vegetated site.
