The desert has been an inspiring landscape for artists. The extreme contrast of sun and shadow and the dreamy colors of a sunset in Sonora have attracted artists to the American Southwest for decades. This unique juxtaposition between art and landscape is the artistic inspiration for Andaz. The design reflects the innovative desert art scene of the 1950s, influenced by architects, artists and graphic designers, including Alexander Girard, Frank Lloyd Wright and Paolo Solari. Andaz Scottsdale's rooms and gardens are a reflection of his creative spirit - color, line and shape, all combining and working in harmony with the natural environment.
Located on 23 hectares in the shade of Camelback Mountain, the hotel includes 201 bungalow-style rooms located in groups, reminiscent of an artists' colony connected by winding paths and communal courtyards with campfires. A large pool and deck with a 12,000 square foot spa and fitness center; and more than 20,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space. Each space in the hotel has been carefully designed by the EDG team to exude playful minimalism and act as a studio for the modern traveler.
The identity of Andaz Scottsdale Resort & Spa is intertwined with the Cattle Track Arts Compound. Inaugurated in 1936, Cattle Track encourages artists, jewelers, potters, blacksmiths, printers and performers to create their work in an environment that values collaboration and creativity. Each room and suite contains original Cattle Track art and artists frequent the resort to create works, interact with guests and share their stories.
Located in the center of the resort, Weft and Warp Art Bar + Kitchen is named after the artistic tapestry of the Sonora desert. Warp is a foundation that creates form and strength. Each warp thread is surrounded by the weave that defines its beauty and creativity.
These two elements form the inspiration behind the restaurant - a solid culinary foundation fused with the spark of creative genius. Chef Executive Sheff allows guests to dine in the glass kitchen affectionately called the “kitchen table” and have an action-packed view of the events behind the line.
