Work.Life - Foley Street

tWO Ltd as Designers

Two Ltd. recently worked on a fantastic design and fit out project for Work.Life in Fitzrovia. Work.Life provides co-working space across London and the UK, so they needed the help of Two’s design and project experts to transform one of its newly acquired new offices.

As the space was to be Work.Life’s most central space in the capital, the project came with very high expectations. The office really needed that “wow factor” to attract freelancers and small teams, so the design team had to think outside-the-box to make it stand out.

One of Work.Life’s requests was for the office to be inspired by the local area – a challenge that Two‘s designer’s really enjoyed. After doing some brainstroming the designers had a light bulb moment: what about printing quotes on the walls from from famous writers associated with the area?

Everyone agreed that this was a great idea, so the designers went away, did some research and shortlisted some quotes. The team was instantly grabbed by Oscar Wilde‘s fitting words “Any place you love is the world to you”, so this was the first to be chosen. Quotes from Virginia Woolf, George Orwell and Roger Fry made it on the walls as well.

The designers were also inspired by the area outside of the office. In Foley Street, where the office is located, there are lots of buildings with red bricks, so they carried on this theme within the space using exposed brickword. This makes the office look right at home and it gives it a cool modern-industrial edge which complements the exposed metal ceiling and black frame staircase.

As the aim of the space is to attract freelancers and small teams, it also had to be practical and designed so people could work in different ways. With this in mind, Two’s designers came up with the solution of adding different work zones, like single workstations for freelancers, bookable meeting rooms, private phone booths and shared desks for collaborating.

The wide range of furniture also helps people to work in different ways. There are standing desks for people who might have back pain or are just a bit more health conscious, sofas for people to kick back with a laptop, and booths which are really comfortable and ideal for those working independently. A lot of the furniture has integrated plugs too, which allows people to book a spot, plug in their devices and work away!

In addition to the work zones, there’s a fully-equipped kitchen and breakout spaces, which are really important in attracting people to co-working spaces. As an added bonus, there are even showers for those cycling to work or returning from a lunchtime jog.

Through working with Two’s design experts, it’s fair to say Work.Life now has an amazing co-working office that’s ideal for its central London location. With its multiple work zones, wide range of comfortable furniture and eye-catching design, the space is sure to attract plenty of guests. It is undoubtedly a welcome additon to both the local area and Work.Life’s growing selection of co-working spaces.
