Georgina Wilson Architect‘s Woollahra Terrace is a demonstration of how best to celebrate the beauty and character of a terrace while also creating a functional and stunning modern family home in the heart of Sydney.
The Woollahra Terrace has pride of place on Woollahra’s most prized heritage street. The home began as a rundown Terrace which had been unsympathetically changed over the years. It consisted of a series of small disconnected spaces on many different levels. It was tired, dark and falling down in places. Georgina Wilson Architect‘s approach was to reinvigorate the Heritage Terrace by creating a clear hierarchy of spaces, maximise living space, rectify and enrich heritage elements and add fresh and functional contemporary elements.
GWA‘s interior palette of crisp white and textured timber detailing creates a calm and airy feel and provides a perfect backdrop for the display dramatic art pieces. The modern open spaces are defined by cleverly shaped custom joinery which directs the occupants seamlessly through the spaces. The open plan Kitchen is anchored by a large shaped island bench clear of fixtures and dressed in a stunning Calacatta stone top and Blackbutt timber slatted base.
A discreet stone curved staircase sweeps you down to a basement level which houses a study, gymnasium, laundry and rumpus space in what use to be an unused under croft.
Bathrooms on every level are covered head to toe in timeless Calacatta hex mosaics creating an enduring and tranquil feel while being practical to a family’s needs.
The Woollahra Terrace by Georgina Wilson Architecture and interiors successfully enhances the true beauty of an original Terrace house while creating a relaxed, functional and elegant series of spaces destined to be experienced for decades to come.
