As the city around us transforms, we're taking a leap into the future of work! After nearly a decade at Anson Road, we recently relocated to a new Studio. The interior design team at Benoy and landscape architects at Uncommon Land embraced this chance to create an innovative workspace to complement a people-driven workplace strategy.
Our primary goal is to empower staff with flexibility and promote wellness, while boosting overall business productivity.
The new Singapore Studio, located on the 21st floor of The Gateway Singapore, offers breathtaking views of the vibrant downtown core and skyline. This Studio combines the collective expertise of Benoy and Uncommon Land.
Our design brief aims at creating a space that draws inspiration from the cozy and inviting atmosphere of a home. Our goal is to capture the comforting feeling one experiences in one’s own living room, translating it into a professional environment where people can work, collaborate, and engage comfortably.
The space encompasses 536 square meters and features a challenging yet intriguing parallelogram-shaped floor plan. Our goal was to make this space versatile, accommodating various functions including workstations, meeting areas, social spaces, acoustic pods, relaxation spots, and office amenities, all enveloped by an abundance of greenery.
Given the building's age, we had to address some technical and practical challenges with an innovative approach, such as managing the ceiling-mounted cabling. Additionally, we aimed to maintain a level of flexibility to accommodate future changes.
In our Studio, we made deliberate choices regarding materials to align with our commitment to sustainability and create an inviting atmosphere.
"The Loft" area, designed for events and meetings, features modern hanging light fixtures to provide a cozy ambiance akin to a living room. The large retractable projector screen adds versatility.
Adjacent to this space, the full glass-walled boardroom emphasizes openness and collaboration.
During our office relocation, we prioritized environmental sustainability by giving existing furniture and workstations a second life. We had professional deep cleaning and reupholstered armchairs to refresh their appearance and extend their lifespan. Usable office furniture and materials were donated to reduce waste.
For new furniture, we sourced cradle-to-cradle materials and locally available options, minimizing embodied carbon. Our choice of eco-friendly carpets made from recycled fibres promotes a circular approach to flooring.
We also selected materials with the "Singapore Green Labelling Scheme" certification and low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) to contribute to a healthier environment.
