Terrammare, a new restaurant in the Brera district of Milan, was born from the inspiration of the Darch2 studio of architects Danilo Demaio and Viviana Pitrolo, pursuing the idea of proposing a Sicilian cuisine that embraces the flavors of the island tradition, with the contemporaneity of a dynamic and cosmopolitan city like the City of Milan.
The place is characterized by a simple, understated and refined style created by the juxtaposition of reuse materials from the Sicilian construction and decorative tradition, such as the antique cements used to embellish the floor made of microceing with warm shades reminiscent of ancient buildings. Two panellings with microcething-decorated surfaces give a strong connotation to the room. The 3D technique used recreates a precious embroidery with a strong material effect. The strong chromatic contrast of Corten iron and copper green is interesting.
The open kitchen gives centrality to the great and refined culinary art, the centerpiece of the activity.
The art of embroidery, a Mediterranean cultural tradition, is also recalled in the wallpaper that furnishes and decorates the service environments. Here two large washbasers made by hand and finished in microcemento from an intense cobalt blue, contrast with gold tiles, creating a pop note in the room. The furniture and fabrics carefully researched in collaboration with Salvatore La Cognata's Lab2 make the spaces welcoming and warm to give the customer maximum comfort.
