Superica, with its free-wheeling individualistic nature, is a casual place where you can come as you are, escape the everyday, and eat simple comforting Tex-Mex food fresh off the wood-burning grill. The food is straight from the memory of Ford Fry, growing up in Houston eating in cafes owned and run by the locals.
The place is a colorful outpost whose design tugs on the heartstrings, reminding us of West Texas dance halls and hill country café’s from days gone by. The color palette is inspired by a west Texas café from the 1970’s. The large stone front bar has fixed diner bar stools in green leather, the bar back topped with a bold concrete top featuring shelves made of cowboy-ready rebar and vintage wood, sporting a collection of the America’s best tequilas.
Gold velvet curtained walls feature a projection of vintage cowboy movies. The furniture throughout is hand-made made by southern hands of vintage found wood, concrete and retro high gloss laminate. The updated diner chairs are made of ready-to-ride Vinyl and hand wrought metal.
Art is commissioned by friends, including chandeliers formed with vintage bicycle seats, 1970’s vintage theater pendants casting a warm glow over the bar….and commissioned art from Robert Alvarez from and Mischka Westell.
The patio features a “Canned Ham” recreational vehicle (RV) from the 1970’s…we’ve refashioned it into a bar and it’ll be serving frozen margaritas under a star lit sky with twinkle lights and plastic lounge chairs where you can enjoy music and games and good company.
