STANTON CROSS HIGHWAYS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

STANTON CROSS HIGHWAYS AND INFRASTRUCTURE

ECL CIVIL ENGINEERING as Engineers

A vibrant new residential community is now emerging and infrastructure works are well underway to provide vital connections between Stanton Cross and the surrounding areas.

Bovis Homes and St Modwen Properties engaged ECL civil engineering company to deliver the infrastructure for Stanton Cross, a flagship industrial logistics park and residential development of around 3,750 homes, with schools, shops, surgeries and recreational spaces.

This major investment in the new neighbourhood will bring improvements to infrastructure and facilities in the area.

The close connection to the A1, M1, A45/A14 and Midland Mainline earmarked the Stanton Cross development as the future strategic hub. ECL was contracted by Bovis Homes to provide access and roadworks under an S278 agreement, and infrastructure works to facilitate the development.
The works commenced immediately on the off-line section of a new roundabout Wellingborough Road - required under planning - to provide safe access for HGVs.

Storm and outfall drainage was installed, along with an oil interreceptor to provide attenuation.
To account for the high levels of traffic, detailed traffic management planning was required for the works to be completed safely.

Due to close proximity to the various existing business, railway station and the town, we were required to facilitate diversions of both overhead and underground services, and interface these with the planned infrastructure.

Gas protection works were completed by a specialist subcontractor, to enable our works around the live gas main.

When complete Stanton Cross is set to deliver:
·  3,200 residential units
·  7,500 new jobs
·  A significant number of jobs a year during construction
·  110 hectares of commercial use
·  9 hectares of leisure use and community facilities
·  Country park of 58 hectares
·  2 local centres
·  2 primary schools and land for a secondary school
·  New station building and 1,000 space car park
·  Office development around the station on the east of the train line.

The whole development is expected to take 10-15 years to complete.

Bovis Homes South Midlands Regional Director, John Lougher, said: "Bovis Homes and our partners on this project have worked incredibly hard to bring Stanton Cross to reality. We have overcome many obstacles along the way and now look forward to seeing this exciting development deliver new infrastructure, employment and homes for Wellingborough".
