RUDA HUTS

RUDA HUTS

FCStudio as Architects

Gonçalves is a Brazilian city in the state of Minas Gerais, in the Serra da Mantiqueira area, with its heavily rugged relief and with few flat areas. High mountains, deep valleys, large rock outcrops and many streams make up the landscape that attracts so many tourists.

There are even forest remnants of the Atlantic Forest, but with typical high altitude species. Among them, the araucaria. In this context, we created the project for the Rudá huts, the name of the god of love according to Tupi-Guarani mythology.

We created two types of contemporary cabins, eight units in total, spread over the land of approximately 20,000m² and connected by pedestrian walkways that invite you to take a walk amid the beautiful natural landscape.

With the simple gesture of tilting the roof, which rests on the horizontal platform of each unit, we create a retreat and a gazebo at the same time. What differentiates the types is the type of access that connects each unit to this walkway.

Pre-fabrication processes of the structure made of laminated FSC wood in a rational way to enable the construction in an isolated environment, since elements such as beams and pillars can be assembled in the construction site.

Furthermore, to generate the least possible environmental impact, materials such as stone and wood are all local, using local labor. Thus, the Rudá huts represent a continuity of nature, relying on architecture to generate a retreat from the urban in difficult times such as the ones we live in today.
