Two are the themes in question for this project: the expansion of the pre-existing building and the symbolic and representative value of the nursery school’s space.
The integration between the buildings was achieved thanks to the re-proposal of the same gauges and alignments at the points of proximity, and through a direct connection between the common spaces, giving "a way out" to the "turbine" typology typical of the schools of the 70s.
The building is organized around a common space, the "road", a place where interaction between different groups is favoured.
In the "road", consisting of a sequence characterized by successive contractions and expansions of spaces, there are also elements of specific architectural significance, as in the real urban structure.
Thus, there are classrooms with a hut shape (which corresponds to the original idea of home), and volumes of different shapes and sizes for group activities on the opposite side, symbolizing public space in relation to the private space represented by the classrooms.
The natural lighting comes from the "sky" or from the walls, while the visual relationship with the outside favours the views towards the green spaces and the countryside.
An element of connection with the context is represented by the "tower" of the offices that, with its height, constitutes a perceptive reference point from the medium distance.
The kindergarten, so structured, becomes a reflection of the society and induces in the child a first idea of sociality and belonging to the local community
