Our own renovation project is changed typical 3-bedroom townhouse to be a home studio house. The main concept idea of space design is creating a new house to be bigger and clearer with more privacy. Instead of keeping the existing extened kitchen in the back of the house, we decided to remove it and turned it to be a little backyard garden for an elderly bedroom on first floor and placed a new kitchen in front of the house next to the new front yard.
The staircase is rearranged to align with bathroom to provide bigger space for bedroom and studio on the second floor and let the cross ventilation flows from front to back. A floor-to-ceiling bookself is deisgn to be a major component of the house,lining parallel with the stair, combining a TV shelf, air-conditioner space and also acting as a room partition as well.
On the second floor , to maximize the usa le storage area on the upper part of the shelf, a perforated steel stair is added above the main stair, allowing lights from the skylight get through to below. A little terrece on the second floor is added for relaxing space, air condensing service and planting as well. For the new fence material, we decided to use aluminium lath to provide privacy for user but still allowed natural ventilation to get through.
