The OFS Brands showroom in Los Angeles features a stunning glass conference room with Krownlab sliding door hardware.
A CUSTOM SPACE FOR CUSTOM FURNITURE
When OFS Brands designed their new Los Angeles showroom, they tapped Pam Light, pL-D Studio, and Klawiter and Associates to help shape it. OFS is a family owned, community driven company that has been providing socially responsible furniture and logistics solutions since 1937. It was important that their showroom have a truly refined aesthetic that preserved existing architectural elements—a spatial metaphor for their modern product offerings and their rich heritage.
A key component of pulling this design trick off was the thoughtful selection of interior finishes. With this in mind, OFS and friends looked at sliding door hardware for their glazed-in conference room. Krownlab’s Ragnar sliding door hardware system immediately stood out. Not only was it designed for complete compatibility with glass, but its premium Black Stainless finish fit perfectly with the showroom’s overall interior design.
“We really loved the look and craft of the Krownlab hardware over other brands,” said Nicole Durcholz, an Interior Designer at OFS. “The material options were a huge differentiator for us. We didn’t want the typical brushed stainless steel that most companies offer. We wanted the hardware to speak to the environment it was in, so Krownlab was an easy decision for our team.”
CREATING THE IDEAL FLOW
The LA Showroom is meant to be a functional tool for OFS to exhibit all of their office solutions to potential clients. The space gets lots of daily foot traffic and flow was a major consideration. It was crucial that their stunning glass curtain-walled conference room not impede people.
“We wanted to maintain a clean aesthetic while also maximizing floor space,” Durcholz said. “The way our conference room was designed, we wanted people to be able to easily flow through it without having to always go around it. The sliding doors made the most sense.”
The conference room’s wide glass doors on either side provide a multitude of space options. Both fully opened, both fully closed, or any combination in between. And because of the Ragnar system’s ease of use—featuring an engineered polymer track cap for smooth, effortless, quiet door travel—foot traffic never reaches a bottleneck.
“The integration of Krownlab hardware in the space made that idea come to life,” Dulchotz said. “We have client tours coming in and out of the showroom all day so the fact that people can move easily through the space when learning about our products is great. We’re very pleased with the result.”
