The ultimate Man Cave

The Design Practice by UBER as Interior Architects

From a bland, underground white box we imagined this client's dream of somewhere to house his supercars and entertain friends. We transformed a standard garage with a few challenges into the show stopping - yet practical - man cave crammed with technology. In stark contrast to the light-filled rooms of the above house, we created a space that was built to create a jaw dropping moment that the owner never tires of. Descending the staircase to the 'garage' the change of material pace heightens your awareness as the 'room' realises your anticipated arrival. The tech prepares by turning the heating, sound and lights on and rotating the car on its podium for that impact moment as you turn the corner. The rotating glass podium was the perfect answer to not only save space for turning (rather than reversing the steep drive) and allow admiration of the form under spectacular lighting and surrounding materials. To give theatre the space is filled with tactile leathers, polished plaster ceilings, faux crocodile and eel skin wallpapers, whilst semi-precious smokey quartz is backlit to striking effect and used to tie in the areas of the pool room media wall, the flooring to the walk-in wine cabinetry and the the circular ceiling work above the show vehicle. As your chosen vehicle approaches the driveway, the settings in this room come to life, adjusting to the personalised settings of that particular car.
