Located in the district of Trafalgar, in the city of Madrid, Spain, this apartment brings with it the historic style of 1945, the year in which it was built. It was from this that we defined the type of relationship we wanted between this pre-existence of almost 80 years and our design.
To further enhance the historic style of the building, including its interior, we have inserted very specific pieces of contemporary design that have established an intense dialogue. This dialogue was not one of agreement, reaffirmation, complementation, much less of mimicry. We wanted to make it clear that different times can exist together in the same space, as long as they are guided by a correct harmonization of colors, textures, dimensions and shapes.
In addition, we were very mindful of the fluidity of routes within the space, as it presents chamfers and cutouts resulting from the insertion of the building itself in the Madrid urban de grid. Thus, curved shapes appeared in the furniture choice.
The Madrid apartment brings together in a single space several times and also the owner's private identities, such as his personal collection of prints and a sculpture in corten steel made by the project's architect.
