Little Hall Student Accommodation

Hayball as Architects

Delivering a new hall of residence, the facility will be an exemplar for managed student accommodation in central Melbourne that brings together academic support with residential life. The scheme for 669 residential places includes extensive learning spaces added to the communal space that supports educational enrichment, and co- and extra-curricular learning.

The site location to the south of Lincoln Square offers high levels of residential amenity which is celebrated through placement of significant internal and external common spaces with outlook across the gardens and to the Parkville Campus beyond. The orientation of the building seeks to create a dialogue between the parkland and the entry that is sympathetic to its surroundings.

The architectural form provides a contemporary response to the university tradition of courtyard and cloister with student common spaces and upper level rooms arranged around a landscaped inner court.
