The city of Tampere organized an invited architectural competition for designing an outdoor stage in 2009. Laikunlava stage is based on the winning entry by Kontukoski Architects. Laikunlava is located in the heart of the city in Kirjastonpuisto park and is surrounded by many historical buildings. The stage can be used for public events for free of charge. These events include mainly different cultural events such as music and dance. There is a small dressing room and disabled access right behind the stage. In front of the stage there are benches for 350 spectators.
