GREEN Architects and Planners as Architects

In an ever changing world, Architecture is a timeless quality that re-establishes the aspects of culture in the communities.

Designing an educational facility is strongly based upon two major aspects: - The educational concept that outlines the functional requirements. - The Architectural direction of the design elements.   Bases on the above our design methodology was based upon a proposed educational concept that implements the best up-to-date practices in educational paradigm, and upon the idea of creating an environment friendly design that is sustainable, easy to build, and maintain.

After a deep analysis of the functional Requirements, we decided to create A Dynamic Educational Spine that connects three major nodes or courtyards with all university functions distributed around them. Node One : Public Node (Main plaza) Node Two : Educational Node Three : Cultural Node   In addition the spine holds the Main entries to the different faculties and buildings, links between the semi public and the public activities of the University.

We emphasized on introducing a unique pedestrian experience in the spine by manipulating between the solid and void, the transparent and opaque, and integrating + blending the landscape with architecture by using different architectural elements such as the free standing walls, ramps and water features.

The architectural theme chosen for the design were engineered to create a modern high tech cost efficient university with a pure simple look yet presenting a sense of belonging to space & place (Dead Sea).

The spatial organization for facilities and different functions focused on the idea of creating a distinct hierarchy of movement from public to semi public to private spaces whether it was an indoor courtyard or outdoor courtyard or piazzas etc…   The University-community relationship is addressed in the design concept in order to achieve the need to use the university Public facilities (Gymnasium – Library – playgrounds – Educational resource center) By community without interrupting the private educational zone of the university.
