Estudio Pluri as Architects

The residents are a young couple, a young daughter and a little dog. They were looking for a functional, elegant and cheerful apartment, which would be nice both for receiving friends on festive days and for intimate moments with the family.

One of the things that delighted the clients and was decisive in choosing the apartment is that it is located at the height of the tree canopy. We decided to take advantage of this and take advantage of the fact that the building has planters and terraces in almost every room to integrate the outside and inside as much as possible.

A landscaping project was created for these planters including large pots on the terraces. On the living room terrace we designed a custom-made bench, which follows its entire curvature and ends with two planters at the ends. We created a lighting project throughout the vegetation so that the feeling of green entering the house continues into the evening.

The old apartment was very segmented, so, to integrate the social area, we tore down the walls that separated the dining room from the living room and the entrance to the apartment, creating a single, large space. We placed vertical brises next to the entrance door in order to give privacy to those who arrive at the apartment.

We also tore down the walls that separated the pantry from the kitchen and dining room, creating a larger, brighter and ventilated environment, with the work area integrated into the lunch room. This space can also be connected to the dining room and living room through a wide sliding door.

Another important point was to combine two suites to create the master suite with two large closets, one of which should also be the client's office. The biggest challenge was designing this integration without modifying the original position of the bathrooms. To resolve this issue, we chose to attach the bedroom hallway to one of the closets and modify the entire intimate circulation.

One of the first wishes mentioned by the client was a green kitchen. And when we arrived at the tone she wanted, we realized that the kitchen would be a very special area in this apartment.

Therefore, we chose neutral materials to let the green have all the prominence, we decided to make the countertops in white quartz, the backsplash in subway tiles also white, on the floor we chose Barcelona Cristal porcelain tiles from Portobello and to make the environment more welcoming we decided to put some carpentry details and freijó furniture.

For the living and dining room, we chose more neutral materials and colors that would work both when the kitchen was integrated and when not. The panel that surrounds the social area was made in walnut, giving a small contrast to the floor made of peroba mica wood scales. The doors that give access to the other rooms of the apartment are all mimicked in this panel.

In the decoration we chose neutral tones, a lot of off-white combined with earthy colors and a little green (to create a link with the kitchen). One of the first fabrics chosen by the client was a tapestry-style fabric, which we placed on the ottomans, from which we decided on the other fabrics and textures.

The chic and cheerful style of the clients can already be seen in the apartment's social hall. We decided to paint it rust, in a "rouge de fer" tone, which gave a beautiful contrast to the walnut door.
