CCN 32m "Vanadis"

Guido de Groot Design as Interior Architects

Vanadis challenged our design team with the need to incorporate the high tech heart of the vessel within the timeless and classy interior sought by her owners.

Her hybrid propulsion system, double engine room and complexity of the yacht’s technical systems meant interior space needed to be used intelligently, and both the interior layout and styling have been fully-customised to the owner’s specific needs and wishes. The resulting design is highly-functional, comfortable and discrete.

Using bleached ash in the interior with accents of walnut, the designers have achieved a modern interpretation of ‘Jugendstil’; with the light decor blending easily with furniture by Wittmann, Poltrona Frau, Giorgetti, Knoll and JAB.

That light colour scheme has maintained a sense of spaciousness and relaxing ambience, added to by loose furniture, a well thought-out general arrangement and large windows. The owner’s experience and influence can be seen throughout the vessel; with safety of paramount importance plenty of grab handles have been discretely integrated into the design. In the master cabin and lobby for example, the walls themselves become a grabbing point with a simple and elegant cut out.

The owner’s influence is also seen in the main deck dining area, cabinet and dining table. The initial design proposed a custom round table in ash with walnut canaletto accents, sitting opposite a linear cabinet in the same colour tones. The client asked for something more organic and dynamic, so in the new version the cabinet embraces the new dining table from Knoll with its round and fluent shape, perfectly consistent with the big curved wall opposite.
