In the “silicon-valley” area of North Vietnam, just 40km from the centre of Hanoi, Software Village 8, also known as Infinity Village, is part of the Hoa Lac High-tech development. The masterplan engages with its contextual and climatic conditions and harmoniously links with natural design from which the masterplan takes its inspiration. The masterplan is formed with a series of “villages” around a central park and since 2007 there have been three villages; High Tech Landscape, Concrete lace and The Gardens. With each consecutive one, like an organism rapidly growing, Infinite Village has been crafted from their genesis and designed grow at its own pace.

In the form of two interlocking asymmetrical rings, each construction phases the implementation of 35’000m2 areas lead to rich and vibrate spaces. Inside the first phase, the ground floor is dedicated to public programs and has a unique “cloud yard” landscaping in the centre, which is enveloped by a large extremely porous building structure.

The project explores the in-between space of working in a cool internal and hot external situation, as opposed to many European designs that have the reverse issue. The outdoor loop corridors, as a secondary access, are designed to achieved a conditioned community space addressing the subtropical climate.

The evolution in typology has led to an optimal typical floor design, which is completely dedicated to office floor space. This study is led by the obsession to remove unproductive “core” spaces and optimise to multiple benefits of “capable space”. This allows the software company, with highly sensitive and confidential information to divide office spaces according to their changing business needs intensively.

As corridors line the profile of the floor plans, fully glazed curvilinear building allows a strong visual connection to form with the external natural environment. The building’s core functions are placed in the yards, forming a new strong identity for a mundane entity, elevating the exoskeleton to that of an apparition of trees.

Designs encompass horizontal densification, rather than the expected vertical solution that is limited once built. Keeping the levels at the low raise level and with a curved profile, sustainable growth is achieved. As cells divide and subdivide, always increasing in number, so will the Infinity village with a continuous organic pattern relating poetically to the landscape.
