To take part in the transformation of a building dating from the 1970, is to achieve a mutation of its image, which is often negative in the eyes of occupants. To successfully pass from disenchantment to the pleasure of living in this type of dwelling, each rehabilitation project must act upon the level of the architectural qualities and uses, while also improving ambiances and thermal performance. In spite of its 150-meter length, the building’s imposing scale erases itself in favor of a rhythmed architectural reading rather than a monolithic one. The intrinsic qualities of the existing structure are highlighted – dynamic verticals, differentiation of volumes and heights, broad bays, loggias for every apartment – while administering a genuinely rejuvenating cure to the façade. Sliding shutters in front of the balconies and loggias on the east and west sides improve comfort in summer and enhance the differentiated and vertical reading of these spaces from the street. The openings in these gold anodized aluminum filters poetically echo the shapes of the clouds we photographed during our initial visit to the site.
