Concept and construction of the 4th Design Bienale

The design and assembly of the Fourth Bienniale in the old train station of Santiago required to face three main variables: SPACE, which suggests the use of the vertical dimension of the nave of the station, more than twenty meters high. THE TIMELINESS, which is conditional on the assembly of three days, a period of three weeks and the unknown fate of the proposed support. The material, which requires to enhance the properties of thousand sheets of plywood SELEX CMPC 122cm x 244cm. To resolve this problem we created a self-imposed rule: USE THE MATERIAL IN ITS ORIGINAL DIMENSIONS OF MANUFACTURING series so not to condition the second use of the material. This provides a triangular base module (122cm. x 244cm.) The simpliest and self-supporting structure allowing vertical and horizontal growth.

Gustafs Inredningar AB has recently been awarded an order for delivering and installing walls and ceiling coverings to the Smålands Music and theatre house in Jönköping (SMoT). The order has a value in the region of 1, 5 million Euros and will be delivered and completed during spring time 2011.
