Colegio OLAMÍ ORT

ARCO Arquitectura Contemporánea as Architects

It is a project that contributes to the training of students by promoting the development of critical thinking and greater motivation and integration with the aim of having a substantial improvement in social skills. The facilities also stimulate the ability to integrate the knowledge learned into real life, ensuring autonomous learning and creativity in the long term, forming a self-critical and entrepreneurial spirit.

It arises from the merger of two schools: CIM-ORT and Colegio Hebreo Sefaradí, with the purpose of building a better educational version, linguistic identity and Hebrew culture that gives place to the creation of the new OLAMÍ ORT school. A process that goes beyond the reconfiguration of spaces to create a new way of learning and living together.

The most attractive aspect of the project is the adaptation of the existing buildings, taking advantage of all the infrastructure and achieving —through design— a new architectural program that receives current interdisciplinary teaching methods, such as project-based learning, where the student works all subjects related to each other.

In the spaces that correspond to the secondary and high school, the remodeling of the corridors, administrative spaces, restrooms and 18 classrooms was carried out. The new spaces naturally adapt to 360° teaching and a series of elements such as: mobile writing boards, corks, flexible storage furniture that support the dynamics of the space. Porcelain tile was used on the floors for its strength and durability. The color palette changes depending on the type of classroom and the selection of more versatile furniture encourages participatory and team work.

The workshops are also part of this important change and are also communicated to the space called I.D.E.A. lab that had already been intervened previously. These areas are made up for various classes and workshops, such as debate, robotics and art; with what is sought to be a portal for learning, linking theoretical knowledge with practical methodologies, through manual tools with which the workshops are equipped. The goal is to ignite imagination and creativity by taking advantage of these multidisciplinary resources in their education.
