Cemagi House

Cemagi House

Bedmar and Shi as Architects

The feature that I wish to pay important attention in this project was the understanding of the strong culture of the Balinese architecture - it was to me imperative that such a culture was not distorted by global influences, globalization. It was imperative to us to create a contemporary environment with the sense of Bali throughout.

The main point was to create a villa concept in which five different suites can enjoy the overall facilities of a resort concept without interfering with one another, therefore a central living / dining spaces and a library were designed with maximum views so as to provide each guest of the villa with a magnificent view, restraining a more intimate self-created views if each individual villa playing with gardens and allowing the bathrooms of each villa to be completely open to these gardens as being this aspect a very strong element of the Balinese architecture.

The materials for the construction of the villas, the furnishing and arts selected, including the second-hand structure were all from Indonesian where the project took place.

The project was executed on a given budget which was achieved due the simplicity of the design / structure and by the fact that local materials were used.
