The project proposes to solve with extreme simplicity a housing for a family (two adults and two girls), intervening, recovering and reforming a typical "standard house", which abound in the fabric and matrix of the city and that they are elements of the morphology of many neighborhoods of Montevideo.
The original house was in a situation of true abandonment, having suffered modifications, but maintaining its architectural features, typical in the facades. Was maintained, although with the local structure around a “patio” covered with a skylight, characteristic of the "standardhouse" (which in the typologies in corner pose the possibility of relations to the central space inside and outside), but with clear links to this site. The proposal focuses on re define the patio space, which adopts a new condition, and to establish clear and broader relations between it and the interior spaces that structure the domestic life around it. Is recovered and power as well as the original typological features of the housing, simplifying them and clarify it. The Courtyard injected a full light and air condition to the housing, allowing at the same time moments of introversion, where you can dispense with the link to the public and other of openness toward both externalities. With the intent to capture fragments of heaven from the different interior spaces and incorporate direct sunlight, were in the process of project and labor studies of the incidence of the sun, which made it possible to control and specify the dimensions and locations of the holes. The interior space is divided by generating a new level, maintaining the original height in the central space, which incorporates the vertical movement and horizontal connections and where it generates the greatest continuity patio-interior-street.
The gain of a third level, by adding a space outside of use and expansion which is accessed by the same courtyard.
