Casa CRH

Estudio MMX as Architects

This renovation aimed to find the best solution to improve the constructive, spatial and material conditions of the existing house. Natural aging and deterioration of the house, as well as an almost close to non-existing maintenance, were the main challenges to overcome in the process. Clean spaces and the use of exposed finishes, without ornament or additions, allowed us to achieve considerable spatial improvements.

In order to reach an equally renovated lifestyle and formal language, it was necessary to re-arrange and intervene the whole building including the envelope, finishes and technical installations. However, the most important intervention was done in the stairwell. Though minimal, in conjunction with the modification and enlargement of window and door openings, this change greatly improved natural lightning conditions while enhancing and intensifying the spatial relationshipswithin and without the house.

The project´s new identity has the distinctive feature of integrating all the greenery spaces into the project. The main garden at the back, the frontal garden, and even the rooftop, are continuously perceivedfrom within the house, creating a mixed experience between urban and natural environment.
