Casa Alma Duratex

Melina Romano as Architects

Melina Romano presents the Casa Alma Duratex® at CASACOR São Paulo

The space brings reconnection to the home and the senses in the present future

A project that brings a new inspiration at every glance. The Casa Alma, authored by Studio Melina Romano, at CASACOR São Paulo, in partnership withDuratex®, brings as a concept the investigation of different perceptions and feelings of the visitors at each setting, from the smallest details, to the atmosphere and experience provided by each space.

A place to reconnect people to their sensations. Yes, the Casa Alma Duratex® is sensory, sensitive and invites visitors to go through the space, sharpening their senses by the projects visuals, by touching the contrasting materials, experiencing the color nuances and the small, but not less important, details that make all the difference in each setting. The minimalist lighting by Luxion evoques a light ambient, with a few key-points of scenic lighting. On the other hand, the brises, in MDF Sandstone pattern, by Duratex® line Conceito, right at the entrance, and the skylights in organic shapes optimize natural lighting into the setting and the extended garden. “I wanted to remove the rigid aspect of the surface and bring fluidity to the material, so that the shapes would accompany the sense of the setting”, explains Melina Romano.

With 160m², the house is comprised of three ambiances designed with different concepts to promote a sensorial profusion. The first one, Slowness, invites visitors to take part in contemplation and comfort, with furniture that prioritize coziness and sophistication in the living. The coffee tables were designed by Studio Melina Romano especially for the space, in collaboration with de handmade design brand Bravio Studios, that translated the furniture like a jewel, through organic design and sophistication.

Integrated with the space is the home office, an atelier thought for a perfume maker developing their fragrances. The space was inspired by one of the pillars of Urban Zen, in New York, where culture and tradition are part of the composition of the work, thus, connecting people to their roots and different traditions. In this concept, the design makes itself present with a rigid curatorship of furniture and objects that were sought out and hand-picked, cresting a harmonic mixture of different styles.  The designs of the furniture mix accomplished Brazilian names with international brands.

Continuing on the circuit of the house, the visitor then comes across a new sensorial atmosphere, the Soulful space, an area that aims for the interaction between family and friends, with the integration of the gourmet kitchen and the dining room. Like in the other settings, in this one, the contrast between natural materials like stone, wood – represented by Pinole pattern, a launch of the Coleção Olhares by Duratex® - and the green that spreads throughout the internal side of the entire house, promotes a light, relaxed and interactive atmosphere.

At the end of the circuit, the final ambience of the house is the intimate area, Well-Being, inspired by the importance of healthy daily habits directed to physical and mental health. The suite was created in this space,  aiming for the reconnection of the resident with his self-knowledge, self-esteem and self-care. In the suite, the green makes itself even more present. The landscaping was designed by Aline Matsumoto, who went for a balance and harmony between the usage of moss, blackberry branches, garlic, among other elements that cover the settings in an organic way, as if the garden was inside the house in all of the different atmosphere that the project brings. In the suite bathroom, the tub designed by the architect was made out of monolith, which allowed the same texture to be used on the floor, ceiling, wall and tub.
