PATENT ATTORNEYS MAKE THEIR MARK WITH OPTIMA PARTITIONS

Following steady growth, patent and trademark attorneys Carpmaels & Ransford needed a larger London office. Deciding not to move too far, the company relocated to One Southampton Row, the southern end of the block of their former address. To reflect its modern approach the company decided to move from a traditional interior to a contemporary one and architects MCM Architecture specified a high performance partitioning system from Optima.

Carpmael & Ransford’s new office has a traditional exterior with a restored façade dating from the late 1800s. However, inside the building it is a different story. Gone are the Regency Stucco and the individual fireplaces of its previous office. They’ve been replaced with a cutting edge open plan space featuring glazed partitioned offices and meeting rooms, courtesy of Optima.

Working with MCM Architecture and main contractor Overbury Plc, Optima provided its high performance 117 single glazed partitioning system for the creation of the building’s numerous offices and meeting rooms. These were spread throughout the building, with the attorneys all located on one floor and grouped according to practice area, whilst support functions occupy the floor directly above. This top level also houses the company’s video-conferencing suite and an area of meeting rooms that can be adapted at short notice, either for small groups or, if necessary, all 150 staff.

Optima 117 is a mullion free single glazed partitioning system. Incorporating minimal head and base channels and discreet glass to glass joints it creates an illusion of continuous runs of unsupported glass. For this reason it provided the ideal solution to help create Carpmaels & Ransford’s new contemporary, open office interior.

Highly versatile, the system can be constructed in various forms to create the desired layout. With dry or silicone joints it can be configured straight or curved. It can also be shaped in a facetted form using silicone joints. Featuring Optima’s innovative head design, the system can accommodate building movement of +/-40mm to ensure it absorbs any potential shifts without damage.

MCM Architecture specified Optima’s 117 system with acoustic laminated glass for office and meeting room privacy. The system can also be finished with standard toughened glass. To provide a continuous, seamless aesthetic, Optima also supplied its glass doors set into a Microflush frame. These allow a slim profile, enhancing the feeling of openness and the uninterrupted glass partitioning. With a conscious new stylish appearance Carpmaels & Ransford’s office provides the perfect platform for the company’s continued expansion. Featuring Optima’s partitioning systems, the new-look modern environment has created an inspiring workplace environment for visitors and staff alike.
