The approach to Ginkakuji Temple with many souvenir shops. The wooden structure there was renovated and rebuilt as a souvenir store "BONTI KYOTO". In addition, there is a cafe space called "BONTISTAND" in the store so that you can easily eat and drink.
The interior was dismantled with the pillars and beams and stairs as it was, and various sizes of large and small volumes were placed while the structure was exposed. First, three trapezoidal volumes are placed in the center of the plan, and polka dot patterns and tiger neon signs, which are the brand image of the store, are installed on the front wall to guide people into the store. Also, the various volumes are slightly offset from the axis of the existing building to create a continuously changing landscape due to the placement and deviation of the volumes and the two diagonally located gardens.
The plan has a trapezoidal volume at the center, and has a movement in a figure of eight, and as you walk through the store, you will come and go between miscellaneous goods and a coffee shop space.
Choose miscellaneous goods, drink coffee, sit on a bench and look at the garden to feel Kyoto. Tourists to Ginkakuji will stop at Bonchikyoto and spend their leisure time in each way.
