VMX Architects as Architects

Like jewels in a large green park, a collection of circular towers, connected through shared spaces, reinterprets the typical qualities of the surrounding post-war neighbourhood.

The six similarly looking towers give space to a large variety of housing types. While three of the towers consist of owner-occupied apartments for a broad target group, the other three are aimed specifically at an elderly population, offering housing options with different levels of care and medical support. By solving the necessary parking by means of a semi-sunken garage, a car-free, park-like landscape is created, with public and collective spaces for the different user groups. A shared program on the ground floor additionally connects the towers of the care complex, including recreational rooms and working spaces for the staff. While avoiding the appearance of a large-scale care facility, this set-up allows for the provision of efficient and diversified care, to the inhabitants of the generous residential units.
