Brian Anderson is the owner of Anderson woodwork’s LLC in Olympia, Washington. He designs and builds custom furniture and cabinetry for clients who are looking for one of a kind, long lasting, and sustainable solid wood furniture. He uses classic joinery that has been in use for thousands of years by master craftsman, and wood finishes that are durable and environmentally friendly. He also purchases wood that has been sustainably harvested. Brian grew up in Thurston County and loves Olympia’s beauty. He attended Tumwater junior high where he took his first wood shop class. After graduating from Tumwater High and serving in the Army, he returned to Olympia where he quickly went to work in a variety of construction jobs eventually working for a custom home builder. It was there that he found his passion for woodworking again. He started taking scrap pieces of wood flooring home and building boxes for gifts. Then one day in 1996, he was asked to make a walnut headboard. This is when he first wondered if he could do what he loved for a living, but he was married and had two kids, and worried about financial security, so he kept it as a hobby for another 10 years. “Then one day a very special person (my wife, Rachel) told me I needed to follow my dream and well here we are. I could not find a better place to follow my passion for designing & building beautiful furniture” says Brian. He shows his furniture at Olympia Arts Walk and other artisan fairs
