The student residence of the E.N.S.A.M. (Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Arts et Métiers) in Talence, near Bordeaux, received an external stair tower with a facade cladding made of HAVER Architectural Mesh. It was a part of the modernization works to meet the latest fire protection regulations.
For the cladding of the stair tower BBCR architectes chose the HAVER Architectural Mesh EGLA-DUO 4262. Thanks to the combination of flat wires and the plain form of the round wires, the metal mesh has a particularly homogeneous appearance, which reflects the light very nicely.
Due to its inherent stability, the EGLA-DUO wire mesh is especially suitable for robust façade designs as well as balustrades and guardrails. The light and filigree looking wire mesh cladding from Haver & Boecker primarily acts as a fall protection. In order not to affect the lightness of the stair tower, further balustrade elements were omitted – only a handrail is installed as additional safety device.
