MOMO Restaurant Bar and Lounge

Baranowitz Kronenberg Architecture as Architects

Momo restaurant is located in a corner building right in the middle of the bustling city center of Amsterdam, at the hub of the trendy and culturally stunning fashion and museum district, taking its name from the Japanese meaning for blossom and beauty. Although MOMO should have served as the dining hall for the Park Hotel clients, BK conceived it as a city restaurant, whose values and identity were developed in relation to the life style of the city dwellers.

The black brick facade of the monumental building has been enhanced through the use of light tones in the background space. A series of stainless steel mirrored panels reflect the street scene into the interior. Each street façade was echoed by a different seating orientation. Reciprocally, dynamic street scenes are enjoyed by different gatherings: to each seating its own stories and memories.

MOMO has grown beyond its role as a restaurant: it revitalizes a century old dormant relationship of the corner building with its immediate surroundings, turning to be a sort of small city square.

All tables and bar top are finished with glossy veneer that together with the mirror-finish panels create a glamorous feel throughout the space. An open Asian-Fusion kitchen provides guests the exciting experience of watching the cooks and chefs at their energetic work.
