CARAVANATELIER is a hybrid of architecture studio and construction company, characterised by the fusion of architecture, interior design and sustainable construction, founded in 2019 by Angelo Ferrara and Viviana Schimmenti. The distinctive trait of their projects lies in the fact that they are both designed and built by themselves. Indeed, they are both architects and craftsmen. After graduating in architecture in Italy in 2014, they continued their studies and specialised in other fields related to architecture. In 2018, Angelo trained in straw bale construction and in 2019 he obtained the title of wood carpenter. 2021 Viviana studied art and specialised in ceramics and natural textile dyeing. In 2021 they received the Austrian Interior Design Award and in 2023 they were named the most innovative studio for contemporary architecture in Austria. Based in Vienna but with their hearts all over the world, they develop projects everywhere with a local connection, using locally available techniques and resources. Their dream is to travel around the world with their architectural Caravan, developing projects to reclaim and rediscover local building culture in collaboration with local people.
