CHRIS HARDY PTY LTD

Chris Hardy P/L is an Australian company headed up by Principal Christopher Hardy. Based out of Canberra and Sydney, the design studio-cum-consultancy specialises in furniture and lighting design as well as custom project development. Integral to the studio’s design practice is the undertaking of extensive research and development to conceptualise and produce new work. Chris Hardy P/L has strong connections with the Australian design community, working closely with local manufacturers to develop its products, and has been actively engaging with design organisations such as Gallery of Australian Design and CraftACT through board memberships. Christopher is also involved in Australian design education, lecturing at the University of Canberra since 2004. The studio’s work has been exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally. Most recently the Pleat stools, Triple stools and Paper pendants were shown at Ventura Lambrate as part of The International Furniture Fair 2013 in Milan. Other major showcases include work exhibited at the Gallery of Australian Design. Christopher holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design with First Class Honours (UC), Diploma of Interior Design (CIT), and is currently completing his PhD focusing on the interaction between designed objects and their users. Christopher's influences can be easily read in his work where key elements of modernism, sustainability and user experience are fused with a materials-led approach to produce Australian designs with a unique user focus.
