A4 Architecture + Planning is led by Ross Cann, AIA. He has been a licensed architect since 1993 and is currently registered in New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut and Massachusetts. As a NCARB Ross Cann certified professional he is able, if necessary, to obtain reciprocal licensure throughout the country in a short time period. During his career, he has led the design efforts for numerous large scale retail and office projects in the Northeast and around the country. His focus is in creating design which is not only beautiful, but also accomplishes the business and functional needs of the client in a successful way. He earned his Masters in Architecture degree at Columbia University where he studied with Bernard Tschumi, Robert A.M. He earned a Master of Philosophy degree in Architectural History at Cambridge University, UK where he was a Crockett Scholar, and won the Trinity Hall Publishing Grant for his thesis. He earned his B.A. degree from Yale University with honors and majored in Architecture and Molecular Biochemistry. Ross Cann is a member of the American Institute of Architects. He has served on the Board of Trustees for the Newport Art Museum, the National Tennis Club, the Yale Association of Rhode Island and the American Institute of Architects’ Rhode Island chapter. He is a member of the Washington Square Advisory Commission, the Preservation Society of Newport County and numerous other committees, groups and organizations.
