Wijnhavenkwartier

The Wijnhavenkwartier, designed by architectural firm Geurst & Schulze, is a particularly attractive addition to The Hague’s city skyline. A dull office complex accommodating two ministries has been transformed into a warm, metropolitan building where all sorts of activities are happening. The complex now accommodates apartments, restaurants, shops, and an annex of Leiden University. The most striking aspect is the sand-coloured façade which has been finished with custom design tiles from Mosa, with which the architect makes a reference to ‘the beautiful city behind the dunes’. Delightful woven patterns ‘The ceramic façade constantly entices you to look at the building,’ explains architect Jeroen Geurst about his design. ‘The closer you... More

NH Hotel Fiera di Milano

The new towers of the NH Hotel Fiera di Milano serve Milan’s exhibition district at Rho-Pero and are located opposite the main gates. The two gigantic monoliths are a fine example of the creative verve of Dominique Perrault, the internationally acclaimed French architect. Their restrained and rather sombre, glossy black shape soars up, tilted 5 degrees off the vertical, with 400 three- and four –star accommodations. The minimalist vocation of Perrault is best expressed in the sophisticated treatment of the building’s outer skin, an expanse of ventilated walls pierced by irregular openings that underline its homogeneity but also its subtle tension. The elements that constitute the face use a completely hidden anchoring system and are the out... More

Frame Model R.1

The Suit'd Suits Frame Model collection R.1 is fitting the Berker brand wiring accessory parts, from their renowned R-series.It was in 2016 that we decided to make matching styling frames for a specific brand, in order to achieve a full range with lots of application possibilities. With focussing on only one electro-technical brand, our clients would never be confused about the applicability. We felt most connected to German family business Hager (est.1955) and decided to partner with them to make more logic combinations; our styling frames with their technology. The combination is astonishing. The typically handcrafted ceramic and wooden Suit’d Suits surface frames from the R.1 Series give a very human and friendly look and feel to the hig... More

Framing | RC pavillion @ Cersaie 2014 |

Framing is the concept. Here all the ceramic models are exhibited as singular unique pieces in three thematic rooms. And the whole interior space is framed from the outside as a compact dense volume just leaving slight introspections. The architectonic geometry - matched with a graphic treatment of the surfaces – it’s crossed by a subtle vibration thanks to the optical effect created by the triple staining of the vertical elements. According to the side you are looking at, the pavilion outer surfaces appear as a continuum of vertical lines with a different chromatic identity. Red and purple if you look to one direction, red and grey if you look to the other. Splitting the inside from the outside – thus avoiding the shop window effec... More

Sonnenhof

Vertically structured ceramic tiles in a warm shade of green give the facade of this building a delicate appearance that blends into the surrounding woodlands. A sustainable, high-quality and robust material, ceramics are resistant to frost and weathering as well as aggressive environmental influences. Furthermore, ceramics absorb minimal water and are very low maintenance. They are thus an intriguing and practical facade material. This particular residential nursing home in the Swiss town of Wil features ceramics from Agrob Buchtal together with a composite thermal insulation system. In sympathy with green tones, anodized metal surfaces of the vertical windows bands as well as the metalwork and the roof endings complement the cerami... More
