Ceramic print on glass
The design is printed on glass with ceramic ink particles. In the tempering oven, the glass is then heated to a temperature of 700 degrees. Under the heat, the ceramic ink fuses with the glass surface. This results in a very scratch-resistant print. An additional advantage is that glass transforms into safety glass. The glass panel is 10 times stronger than untempered glass and breaks into small, blurry pieces if broken.
Unlike traditional techniques, ceramic glass contains inks without toxic and heavy metals, such as lead and cadmium. Ceramic printed glass can be recycled and is therefore a sustainable and green solution. The applications are countless and suitable for both interior and exterior: walls, facades, balustrades, doors or as a separate support for art. Depending on the application, the glass can be provided with a semi-transparent or closed backing so that any desired degree of transparency can be achieved.
Sublimation glass
For crystal-clear printing applications, a sublimation technique can be chosen.
With the printing of a crystal clear film, the image is laminated between two or more layers of glass with a UV blocking EVA. This keeps the image with the same maximum gloss level on both sides. The print is also protected between the glass layers. Ideal for facades, partition walls, doors and art applications.
Sublimated prints between glass sheets are not cheap, but the exclusive look and lifespan of this innovative technique justifies the investment. Sublimated glass can be used even in extremely demanding indoor and outdoor environments.
Fantastic effects can be achieved by varying the number of glass plates and the number of layers of prints. Sublimated glass is a very popular material among designers and artists.
Because the inks are completely clear, this technique is extremely suitable for making many different glass and/or mirror compositions. You can also think of glass compositions with patterned glass.
